It is a good, well-known advice given by many successful women around the globe. Being able to focus on the task at hand is proven to do wonders, especially for women who wear many hats and act in several capacities. Perhaps while planning for a birthday party you find yourself thinking of that email you need to send first thing in the morning … DON’T! Dedicate enough time to finish up the task of planning the party, then move to writing the email draft.
During the day, when you know that you need to do a task that is not related to work, schedule it during your breaks (yes, it is advisable to take breaks). I used to confirm doctor’s appointments and send invitations to gatherings with friends during my lunch hour or during my commute.
