I am very excited to be writing about the Fundraising Initiative for the Children of Fort McMurray, AB, which I recently spear-headed, and has taken off like gangbusters as a result of the continual kindness and generosity of people I often refer to as my TRIBE – the lovely souls who are forever paying-it-forward and are of ongoing service to others.
As an author of children’s books, (currently – now moving on to adult material) I thought to myself, how can I continue to put my books to good use – to impart my message of love, kindness, humility, passion, and compassion; to the collective.
In the seeking out of my most recent radio guest, Larry Aulenbach, a resident from Fort Mac – I began to connect the dots. Due to much of this community and its infrastructure remaining in disarray, including the local library. and in the finding out of Edmonton, AB, lovingly opening its doors to anyone from Fort Mac whose in possession of a library card it was then that the lightbulb went on!
I was extending an open standing invitation, and ongoing summer access for people to join us in my pool this summer, in exchange for the generous purchasing/donating of one of my three books, inclusive of a personally inscribed heartfelt message from them to the intended children recipients of Fort Mac. At the end of the summer, my distributor, William Masters, and I, would in-kind; ship all of these books to the Edmonton, AB, library for the children of Fort Mac.
