ON Monday, March 14th, 2016, at the Bingemans Centre in Kitchener, Ontario; more than 200 small business owners – mostly women- gathered to learn more how to use Facebook to boost their business. The event was organized along with many of similar events across the North America in honor of the International Women’s Day.
Conversations and discussions focused on the role women play in business today and their contribution to the economic prosperity of their communities. In addition to showcasing the most up-to-date tools, insights and best practices for using Facebook and Instagram to grow the business by connecting and reaching out to your customers.
Facebook invited Hon. Bardish Chagger, Minister of Small Business and Tourism as a guest of honor, as well as hosting many booths representing several governmental agencies supporting business owners and providing valuable services such as financing and toolkits to comply with information security regulations.
A panel discussion with local business owners who used the tools provided by Facebook to grow their business was held, where the panelists shared lesson learned:
- Creating relevant and engaging content and how they kept modifying their messages until they reached the right mix that resonates with their target audience.
- The tools they used to target the right audience(s).
- How they used Facebook Ads to reach their customers, engage them and boost their sales.
- And how the tools provided by Facebook allowed them to measure the success of their advertising campaigns and get more knowledge about their customers and their response to ads.
At the end of the discussion, Kevin Chan – Head of Canadian public policy for Facebook Inc. and Andrea Van Leeuwen – Head of Business Marketing and Facebook staff engaged in one-to-one discussions with tens of the attendees to discuss their specific needs and providing personalized advice on how to optimize their experience as business owners with Facebook.
